A Day In My Life

Okay.

Let’s get real.

No matter what it looks like on Instagram, my life isn’t filled with food and exotic destinations. On most days, I’m at a desk, staring at a computer screen. Don’t get me wrong, I love the flexibility that comes with working for myself, making my own rules and answering to no one – it’s an empowering feeling! But while I love my lifestyle, to be honest, I haven’t worked harder than this in my life!

Sometimes, when I’m bored, I check out the #dayinthelife hashtag on Instagram. I mean, who doesn’t love spying into people’s lives, seeing how they work, where they live and what they do?

Count me in!

If you’re feeling a little spy-ish today, come have a peek into my world!

8 AM – The alarm goes off. I grudgingly open my eyes and instinctively tap ‘snooze.’ It’s so hot already, uncomfortably hot. And bright. I’d love an extra 10 minutes of sleep but it’s too muggy to get under the blanket. I drag myself out of bed and get started with my morning routine – brushing my teeth, taming my hair and all that jazz.

I can’t eat immediately after waking up. I need at least 45 minutes to feel like eating. So I head over to the kitchen to make some coffee and bring that hot mug back to bed, from where I catch up on the world through social media and reply to emails on my phone.

9 AM – I turn on the music channel on TV and make a quick breakfast of either oats or fruits.  Alongside, I turn on my laptop and browse through some of my favorite blogs, note down some ideas I have and make a list of deadlines I need to meet today. Writing things down helps me get a gist of what I need to accomplish through the day, so when I have the urge to take an afternoon nap or binge-watch YouTube, I stay on track and power through!

10 AM – Living alone means I need to choose between cleaning my bachelorette-pad and shopping for groceries. Today, food wins! I dump my PJs on the bed and change to walk to the supermarket. It’s a good 15 minute walk, and probably wasn’t my best decision. The heat is killing! It’s one of those days when a chicken lays an omelet.

On entering the supermarket, I immediately look for something to drink. That’s when I find 7UP Revive. I’ve never seen it before. It says ‘Sweat Loss Recharge’, and that is what I need right now. I sip it as I shop and start feeling refreshed, more recharged, thanks to all the fluid and electrolytes in the drink!

I pick up a few more bottles and head out with the rest of my groceries.

12:30 – Back home! It’s time to get down to work. I brainstorm for new content angles for a couple of clients, handle a few social media accounts and get on calls with designers and clients. I also spend some time to update myself with the latest marketing campaigns that make the headlines. Between blogging, setting up content calendars and building cool new websites and apps, time flies! Oh yes, I also take a lunch break.

5 PM – I’m heading out again to meet a friend in South Mumbai for a movie. It may be evening, but the heat and humidity is unbearable. Taking the train is the fastest way to travel. However, being rush hour, there’s traffic on the street and in the train. Heat and crowds together make me very uncomfortable, especially in a cramped space like the Mumbai Local. Soon after boarding. I feel my energy being drained and not even the music I’ve plugged into my ears can distract me from that uncomfortable feeling.

I remember the 7UP Revive I bought this morning. It’s still in my bag and I take a sip during the 45 minute journey. Thankfully, it works like a charm in keeping me hydrated. It’s satisfying, to say the least and I begin to feel refreshed again, an effect that an ordinary drink may not be able to do.

7 PM – Popcorn, 7UP Revive and great seats! The movie is about to begin and my energy is as high as ever. I offer some to my friend too! She says it tastes like 7UP, but better.

11:30 AM – I open the door to my house and plop down on the bed. I’m not kidding when I say that in Mumbai, the travel and heat suck the life out of you. After a quick, cold shower, I open my laptop and settle down to work for a couple of hours. I happen to write some of my most creative and entertaining pieces in the wee hours of the night. There are no unwanted phone calls, text messages and general stresses of the day.

That’s my day with 7UP Revive in a nutshell! Every day is different – sometimes I’m home all day, on others, I’m all over town. Never short of excitement, though!
