If you’re travelling to Goa and haven’t put “watch a sunset with a cocktail in hand” somewhere on your itinerary, I’m not sure what you’re doing here.
Goa takes its sunsets very seriously, with entire evenings planned around them and with tables booked hours in advance. People abandon perfectly good conversations to take photos of the sky. And for about twenty minutes every evening, staring at the horizon is a perfectly acceptable activity.
The problem is that everyone tends to flock to the same handful of sunset spots.
You know the ones. The places where you need to arrive early to secure a good table, where the cover charges rival your flight ticket, where the service slows to a crawl because half of Goa has had the exact same idea…
Offbeat Sunset Bars in Goa, Beyond the Crowded Ones
Fortunately, Goa has no shortage of places to watch the day wind down.
Some sit directly on the beach. Others perch above the coastline. Some have been around for years, quietly serving excellent food and drinks while their flashier neighbours steal the limelight. Others are relatively new additions that haven’t yet made it onto every “Top 10 Goa” list on the internet.
If you’re looking for sunset views without quite as much competition, these are some of my favourite lesser-known spots to settle in, order a drink, and watch Goa do what it does best.
Raki, Panjim
I arrived at Raki expecting to stay for sunset and move indoors once it got dark. That plan lasted all of five minutes. Between the breeze, the views over Miramar and the comfortable rooftop seating, we ended up spending the entire evening outside. Located on the 11th floor, Raki offers a completely different kind of Goa sundowner experience – one that’s got both skyline and shoreline. The cocktails are beautifully done, the Middle Eastern food is strong across the board, and the atmosphere strikes a nice balance between sophisticated and relaxed. It’s the kind of place where one drink before sunset quietly turns into dinner.
Verre, Miramar
Located atop Vivanta Goa, Miramar, Verre (pronounced ‘where,’ but with a v) brings a more polished, city-style rooftop experience to Goa’s sundowner scene. The space leans into contemporary elegance, with clean lines, trippy lighting, comfortable lounge seating, and uninterrupted views stretching across Miramar and the Arabian Sea from the outdoor section. Arrive around golden hour, and you’ll understand the appeal immediately – the rooftop catches the evening light beautifully, while the sea breeze keeps things comfortable long after sunset.
The cocktail programme is clearly a major focus, with thoughtfully crafted drinks that feel more metropolitan cocktail bar than beach shack, while the food menu is designed for sharing, pairing global flavours with elevated presentation. The atmosphere strikes a sweet spot between sophisticated and relaxed, making it equally suitable for date nights, celebrations, or a leisurely evening with friends. For those seeking a sundowner experience that feels a little more refined than Goa’s usual beachfront offerings, Verre is one of Miramar’s most promising new rooftop additions.
Paloma, Anjuna
Paloma is one of Anjuna’s newer additions, offering a stylish rooftop patio that comes into its own around sunset. While it sits across the road from the beach rather than directly on it, the elevated deck still catches the evening light beautifully and provides a relaxed setting for sundowner drinks before dinner.
The menu draws inspiration from both the Mediterranean and India, with dishes such as Gunpowder Patatas Bravas, Lamb Tzatziki Tacos, and wood-fired pizzas sitting alongside heartier options like ribs and mash. Portions tend to be on the smaller side, and prices reflect its positioning as a contemporary Anjuna restaurant, particularly when it comes to the cocktails, but the attentive service, good music, and easy-going atmosphere make it an enjoyable spot to settle into for the evening.
Bar SoGo, Varca
Most Goa sunset lists are obsessed with the sea. SoGo proves they don’t have to be.
Set amid the fields of Varca, this South Goa sundowner spot swaps crashing waves for open skies, swaying palms, and lush green views that change beautifully as the sun begins to set. It’s quieter, calmer, and considerably less chaotic than many of Goa’s more famous sunset destinations.
The drinks programme is exceptional. The cocktails are inventive, but the real surprise is the mocktails. They’re not just good “for mocktails.” They’re genuinely good, full stop. I’d comfortably rank them among the best on this list.
The food doesn’t disappoint either. Order the choris hummus. Trust me. Then keep going. The menu is built for sharing and lingering. Not every Goa sunset needs a beach. Sometimes all you need is a good drink, good food, and a field turning gold in front of you.

Tell me your offbeat sundowner spots in Goa
Of course, this list is far from complete. Goa has no shortage of beautiful places to end the day, and I’m constantly discovering new ones. As I find more sunset bars, rooftops and hidden gems worth lingering at, I’ll keep adding them here.
Until then, I’ll be wherever the sky is turning orange, and somebody is handing me a drink. And when I’m not there, find me on Facebook, Instagram, and X!
