Best Burgers in Goa – ThatGoanGirl Guide

We’ve got a lot of great burger places in Goa – enough that it’s worth highlighting the absolute best of the best. I’ve scoured the state looking for the yummiest burgers in the land, so you can grab one no matter where you are. All these burgers have been tried, tested, and clicked by yours truly (no rehashed content off the internet if you know what I mean). So grab a beer or a glass of iced tea and prepare to sink your teeth into the greasiest, meatiest, cheesiest burgers in Goa.

Pssst.. you can get back to your Avo-toast and goji-berry-whatever diet tomorrow.

BEST BURGERS IN GOA

ROUTE 66, Panjim

Route 66’s fandom is intense among burger lovers, and it is oh-so-deserved. A strong contender for the title of Goa’s best burger joint, this American-style diner will have you agonizing over which burger to choose from their extremely extensive selection. Most of their menu caters to people with a really big appetite who really want to pig out – I’m talking burgers with a 4-oz patty, or double-patties, topped with BBQ pork ribs, onion rings and the works. Freshly baked buns, a variety of toppings & sauces, and of course, their in-house secrets promise a down-and-dirty, messy experience you’re going to love.

HOTEL FORTUNE, Miramar

Fortune Miramar’s epic burger festival has been running every October for 3 consecutive years. Called the #MiramarBuger, it is the ultimate example of how a burger should be done, albeit with a little Fortune-flair. At the festival, you can build your own burger by choosing from among an insane variety of meats and seafood, cheeses, sauces, top-ups like eggs, coleslaw etc, and even choose the colour of your bun! You can also choose between Foccacia or Pretzel buns and every order comes with a side of potato wedges + beer/iced tea. I wish the festival lasted all year through because I couldn’t possibly eat more than one indulgent burger from there a month! During the rest of the year, they do serve up some mean burgers, although the custom choices aren’t that many.

BURGER FACTORY, Anjuna, (Also in Morjim & Nerul)

Such a treat for burger lovers! This place is simply excellent in terms of service and food. Apart from offering milkshakes and a handful of drinks, it is, like the name suggests, solely dedicated to burgers – and boy, do they excel at it! I tried the Beef Burger with Blue Cheese, Bacon, and Avocado, a Pork Burger with Double Cheddar, Bacon and BBQ sauce, and a Chicken Burger with Brie, Cheddar and Bacon. O-M-G! I can’t pick a favourite! Lucky I went with 2 other people so I could take a bite (or several) out of each, because one burger is more than enough to put you into a food coma. What stands out among the Burger Factory’s burgers is that they don’t douse the burger in sauce and cheese to focus on the ‘so-bad-its-good’ factor, but that the taste of every ingredient shines through. Love the crispy potato wafers and garlic sauce it comes with, too! Yum! They also have an outlet on Morjim Beach, if you’d like to take the experience to a whole new level.

Cuebebar Smokehouse, Assagao

An impromptu plan with friends led me to finally visit this smokehouse in Assagao. With its industrial interiors and garage-like feel thanks to several vintage bikes, this grungy space is quite cool and very spacious! You can tackle a spread of burgers, grills, and cocktails, each one sounding more tempting than the next. Between the 5 of us, we ordered smoked pork belly chips, sweet potato fries, pork carnitas tacos and grilled shrimp tacos, 4 burgers, and a steak.

Mine was the smallest burger of them all but the tastiest if I do say so myself. It was the Cubebano (citrus-marinated smoked pork and homemade ham with grain mustard and cheese)! The meat – from the burgers to the sofffft steak was impeccable. The meat here is smoked for hours and everything is made from scratch which is why the food is definitely worth trying out. If you’re up for it, try the Megamind – pulled pork, beef brisket, beef patty, cheese and onions. I could go on about how the burgers tasted, but I’ll leave you to try them out  All I can say is we had zero space for dessert! So sharpen those knives, ready that jaw, and dig in!

Jackyard Burger House, Sangolda

Visited Jackyard Burger House and was really surprised by how good they are. I wish I visited them sooner 🙂 Once a small roadside restaurant in Vagator having a small menu comprising of 6 burgers and a bunch of sides, they have now moved to Sangolda. The bacon fries were fabulous and gooey, loaded with delicious bacon jam! All the burgers come in veg, chicken, or beef options – although the burger names like Slow Poke and “Bloody Boar’ may make it appear like there’s pork on the menu. On a side note, I hope they introduce pork options! I personally loved the Humungous Shroom Burger and Slowpoke. The burgers take their own sweet time to come to the table, so go here only if you aren’t in a hurry. They’re worth the wait, just as this place is worth the visit!

The Outpost, Panjim

Also on my list of best bars in Goa is The Outpost in Panjim. A new kid on the block, they are setting high standards indeed! This swanky new bar is intimate; combining modern luxury with the charm of an old English-style pub. Sip a bourbon cocktail with smoked bacon, an Old Fashioned, a pint, or even a cappuccino as you savour the art that hang on the walls. The appetisers are incredible and you can’t go wrong, no matter what you pick. My favourites among them were the burgers, the liver pate, Pandi pork tacos, and crispy calamari with wasabi aioli. This is definitely a place I see myself returning to several times over.

Miri x FWB, Panjim

Is it any surprise that Friends with Buns features on Goa’s best burger list? Once known for their soulful burgers, FWB has merged with Miri, a restaurant in Panjim and the burgers here are as good as ever! Flip to the ‘Texas Low and Slow’ section of their contemporary menu and take your pick from their Porkito, Champ, and Fowl House Special – only one burger option each in chicken, pork and beef, which is probably why they are so well constructed.

Goa is full of delicious burger joints, constantly upping their game with artisanal ingredients, new combos, and favourite classics. As always, I’ll keep trying them out and adding to the list of best burgers in Goa – and you do you, keep eating along! Let me know what you’d like me to list out next – Best Pizzas in Goa, perhaps?

Bye for now!
