Inside IshaVilas – A tranquil new wellness center in Siolim

Ever since I’d heard about IshaVilas, I was curious to visit. Words like ‘Luxury Villa,’ ‘Airbnb,’ ‘Wellness Therapy,’ ‘Yoga,’ and ‘Neck Connection Therapy’ had been used by people referencing this new spot in Siolim, and quite honestly, I couldn’t form an idea of how everything came together.

While Goa is known for many things, wellness isn’t really one of them. And if at all you hear of a wellness retreat, it is centered wholly around Yoga. So I paid a visit to Ishavilas to see what it was, for myself.

DR. MOSARAF ALI AND THE TIME REVERSAL REJUVENATION CENTRE IN GOA

Dr. Mosaraf Ali is the pioneer of Integrated Healthcare Science and has over 30 years of clinical experience in helping people with chronic health issues as well as neurological problems. While he has a clinic in London that sees popular names in the film industry visiting to consult him, his second clinic is located a Ishavilas, in a sleepy corner of Siolim, Goa.

At Ishavilas, a little-known concept of Time Reversal, developed by Dr. Ali is practiced. With roots on the ancient art of Kaya Kalpa (or rejuvenation), various forms of treatments have been developed to aid the body in things like cell regeneration and well-being.

A few of the therapies include:

  • Marma Therapy – an ancient Indian physical therapy to stimulate the nervous system, improve blood flow to various parts of the body, and revitalize muscles.
  • Neck Connection Massage – the therapy that I got done. It focuses on two arteries in the vertebrae of the neck, which supply blood to the brain.
  • Chronic Fatigue Treatment – Various techniques are used to revitalize the body and boost energy. Some of these include Marma, Neck Connection, and Scalp Therapy.

Still, other treatments you can opt for are the Time Reversal Weight Loss Therapy, Therapeutic Yoga and Meditation, Stress Management, and Time Reversal Body Treatment. While many of the treatments can be known to cure ailments (a long, steady process), they can be availed by those looking for preventive measures to various ailments too – and are recommended, to diagnose something that can be nipped in the bud, or to prevent it altogether.

But Ishavilas isn’t your ordinary Portuguese Villa / Airbnb. This expansive property is nestled in nature and has, quite literally the most lush (yet well-kept) garden I’ve ever seen! Inside, a pool with a statue of Lord Ganesha at one end, covered in tiny glittering mirrors was poised. And behind the statue was an ornately carved and painted door, leading to one of the rooms for holidayers.

This luxurious property in Goa offers guests a choice of 4 rooms, each designed and decorated in keeping with a different theme. While I didn’t see the rooms, the hall in which I was seated was designed with finesse. Ornate objects, stunning paintings and statues, and sheer opulence everywhere I looked. It is a haven for an art lover as well as a city dweller.

NECK CONNECTION THERAPY AT ISHAVILAS

In order to understand how the Neck Connection Therapy at Ishavilas works, its essential to get into a little biology here, so bear with me. The Neck Connection Therapy focuses on, well, the neck. But more specifically, the focus is on the 2 arteries that connect the brain to the rest of the body via the neck.

One, the Cartoid Artery, that supplies blood to the conscious brain – the part that thinks and makes decisions. And second, the Vertebral Arteries that connect to the subconscious brain, the part that deals in activities in which you don’t need to actively pay attention to – such as sleep, digestion, healing and emotions. Without these two arteries, a body cannot function and if at all these arteries are damaged, then body functioning will be hampered, too.

So the Neck Connection Therapy improves the blood flow to these areas of the brain via the two arteries – and  Dr Mosaraf believes that enhancing this flow is the key to health. When the arteries are stimulated in the correct manner, the voluntary and involuntary parts of the brain can be controlled to function more efficiently. In this way, not only can physical, emotional and other issues be gradually healed, but can also be prevented without pain or medication.

MY EXPERIENCE DOING NECK CONNECTION THERAPY

I first met my therapist, Anish, and we had a brief chat in the gorgeous living room of Ishavilas, about the benefits of Neck Connection Therapy and how it worked. We then made our way to one of the spa rooms and once I lay down, he proceeded with the therapy – applying varying levels of pressure and stimulating points on the neck. In layman terms, he explained to me how the therapy can help detect problems or stresses that the body is under, without the knowledge of the person. The neck muscles, he explained, have a certain shape, and this changes or hardens with blockages that indicate whether a person is facing sleep disorders, digestive problems, cervical issues, stress and more.

Just as any problem the body faces cannot be dealt with in one dose of medicine, they cannot be dealt with in one 25-minute session, either. He advised me, as the therapists advise all guests, to keep signing up for therapies for one’s own benefit as it can save a lot of hassles in future before a mild issue turns into a chronic one.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if the body could be stimulated to perform better with occasional spa treatments? This is quite similar, only, the spa treatment is limited to one’s neck.

After a brief consultancy, in which Dr. Anish felt the shape of my calve muscles and arms, he suggested that I don’t drink nearly enough water as my body type demands and that I should increase the consumption to 4 times of the amount. He also suggested that I change my pillow and refrain from working late at night to curb what could turn into a neck issue later on.

Here’s where you can book a stay or get more info about the treatments at Ishavilas in Siolim. Let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll be glad to help if I can.

Until my next post, see you on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
