Here’s the best gelato in Goa: small scoop or large?

What could be better than exploring the streets of Goa on a hot summer’s day? Exploring the streets of Goa on a hot summer’s day with a fruity gelato in hand, of course. I’ve rounded up the best gelato in Goa, taking note of inventive flavours, vegan options, affordability, and more. Here are my top picks.

Best Gelato in Goa – North

Cream Choc, Anjuna

The spot where gelato dreams come true. Cream Choc, oh boy, their amazing gelatos and sorbets have made them synonymous with the best gelato in Goa! They’ve become the go-to spot for gelato lovers all over Goa over the years. With branches in Anjuna, Porvorim, and Miramar, Cream Choc offers an array of flavors that will make your taste buds do a happy dance.

From fresh mangoes and coconuts to tangy berries and my personal favorites – the salted butter caramel and biscoff, there’s something for everyone. You’ve got to try their unique flavors like After Eight (a mint and chocolate sensation), Baileys, truffle, and blackberry sorbet. Pick a cup, a cone, mix and match go solo, or make it a sundae – your choice! Plus, their outdoor seating is the perfect spot to chill after dinner until they close at 12:30 AM.

Amore Gelato, Vagator

While Cream Choc has become everyone’s default spot for gelato in Goa, I say let’s shake things up (because why not!?) and head to Vagator, where Amore Gelato has taken the ice cream game to a whole new level. This newcomer in the gelato scene offers 30 fantastic flavors that range from classics to seasonal surprises. Feeling adventurous? You can even turn any of these flavors into a creamy shake. And here’s the best part – they understand that everyone’s got different dietary needs, so they’ve got sugar-free and vegan options too. Talk about catering to all gelato lovers! Find them near the Vagator petrol pump, open from 1 PM to 12:30 AM.

O’Mio Gelateria, Porvorim

Not only is it O’Mio most affordable gelato spot, but it also has some unique flavors that the bigger ice cream parlours in Goa don’t. Where else can you find gelato flavors like Sera Durra (a Goan dessert), Oreo Cheesecake, and choco-whisky? They also have lemon, passionfruit and urrak sorbets, among others. Their ice cream parlours are done up very cutely, which makes them stand out, and their price point has them gaining popularity among the youth. Oh, and did I mention that they stay open until 2:30 AM? That’s right, late-night cravings have finally found their match!

Get-A-Way, Panjim

Health-conscious? Get-A-Way is a new ice cream brand that’s springing up around the country and is yet another Shark Tank feature. What’s different about this ice cream parlour in Goa is that here, the offerings contain 50% fewer calories, skimmed milk, no added sugar, and added whey protein. Ever heard of guilt-free cheesecake, ice cream sandwiches, and kulfi? They’ve got it all including keto and vegan options.

You can also make your own ice cream shake by choosing an ice cream flavour of your choice, and adding toppings like fruit chunks, cookies, chocolate chips, and more. Drizzle a sauce of our choice and enjoy a dessert that’s as healthy as it gets while being indulgent too. I tried the strawberry sundae and blueberry cheesecake shake. I won’t say that you won’t be able to tell the difference between Get A Way’s desserts and regular ones – because taste-wise, you can.
